Swisscom is splitting its corporate customer division, grouping consulting services for artificial intelligence, data, software, and digital transformation into a separate subsidiary, a company spokesperson told the AWP news agency following reports by the "Inside Paradeplatz" portal. The remaining corporate business will stay within the existing Swisscom Business Customers unit. The reorganization will take effect on April 1, 2027.
Around 570 employees from Swisscom Business Customers will move to the subsidiary, named Swisscom Digital Technology AG. The spokesperson stated that the company cannot disclose how many positions are affected overall, but noted that a social plan is in place for those facing job losses. Swisscom intends to absorb personnel impacts wherever possible through internal redeployment, filling open positions, natural fluctuation, and retirements. The telecommunications company maintains its previous target expecting its workforce in Switzerland to change by a low single-digit percentage per year through 2030.
With this concentration of expertise in Swisscom Digital Technology, the group aims to expand its position in digital and AI transformation, enabling corporate clients to benefit from faster innovation, easier collaboration, and enhanced support. Meanwhile, the Swisscom Business Customers unit will focus on its core business with enterprises, covering broadband and telephony, cloud services, AI computing, cybersecurity, and IT outsourcing. It also encompasses services for the financial sector, public administration, defense, and IT infrastructure services. Specifically, Swisscom Digital Technology will handle AI consulting, while the operation of AI platforms remains with Swisscom Business Customers.
The corporate customer business has faced pressure due to intense competition. By the end of June, Swisscom lost approximately 75,000 connections compared to the previous year. Revenue in the traditional corporate customer business declined by 0.8 percent in the first half of 2026 to 1.46 billion francs. Operating profit before depreciation and amortization after lease payments (EBITDAaL) shrank by 1.3 percent to 586 million francs. The Swiss corporate customer business is estimated to employ roughly 5,000 people.
